Have you ever needed to find someone and all you had to go on was a phone number? Perhaps you are getting prank phone calls at all hours of the night. Maybe someone you know is involved in suspicious activity and you know nothing about it other than the phone number they’ve been calling.

There were four things I wanted to know about Reverse Phone Detective:

• Is it some sort of scam?
• Can I get started right away?

There are a number of companies that promise to provide this information, known as a “reverse lookup” or a reverse phone lookup, but many of these companies exaggerate their ability to actually provide the information. It turns out that many of these companies just create a database out of information that is published in phone directories.

If the number is unpublished, they won’t have any information on it.

If the number belongs to a cell phone, they won’t have any information on it.

You could hire a private investigator, but that can cost a fortune. Have you priced one lately?

Reverse Phone Detective, on the other hand, is different. They have a custom database that they have assembled themselves using proprietary resources. This database includes names, addresses and the names of other occupants who may live at that address. In fact, they have the most comprehensive database of information available to the public for reverse lookups.

It really isn’t any harder to use than that. The price is fair, too, especially when you consider how expensive hiring a private investigator can be.
